The quiet and often overlooked eastern suburb of Newcomb has just gotten a lot cooler, with the opening of Soul, a new cafe gourmet grocer.

The bright and airy shop is immediately charming. There are sprinkles of colour from the fresh flowers and displays by local artists. The upmarket yet affordable selection of small goods for sale is a home chefs dream, you can find boutique local producers such as Otway pasta and Ket Baker on stock. The coffee is excellent and the beautiful home made treats are delectable.

The young owner is friendly, and we were impressed that she’s a local Newcomber. She built and designed the store herself and even made an eponymous perfume, which is a steal at only 12 dollars .

Soul is a fantastic addition to the Geelong cafe/grocer scene.
